OMG! Don't worry!
Your case is mild. OMG... And here I was, thinking my own problem with *** was just a passing fad. OMG..I must have been in denial I guess, because 15 years on, OMG just rolls of my tongue, at the most inopportune of moments!

For example, my Dad is a strict Christian with a very rigid belief system. As you could imagine, he is also very much against "taking the Lord's name in Vain". Whenever I see him, I am immediately reminded NOT to mention the 3 forbidden letters.

But conversation is just not as lively is it? No wonder Religion is of no concern of mine at this point in time.... nevertheless, I respect others enough to attempt to omit *** as much as I can.

So, of course, the only thing that comes out of my mouth after this, is OMG this, OMG that.... No sentence structure. Just one big string of OMG"s.....But, I've discovered, when I can change the "God" bit to "Goodness" or even "Gosh" before he realises, I can be spared the same old lecture about why I need to convert to Christianity, blah, blah and so on.... (nothing against it, but each to there own...After all, as I always say to my Dad - OMG Dad!!! I AM 27, not 7.)

I'm an Atheist myself, and Oh My God!, I am glad I CAN officially say OMG, without being frowned upon, repenting or going to Confession! I'd be there indefinitely, being forced to pitch a tent, adjacent to the Confessional box, considering the box itself just couldn't possibly be roomy enough,

OMG! - I almost forgot.... I accidentally, but very dramatically, exclaimed OMG! several times throughout the ceremony at my Grandfathers Funeral. OMG...I felt awful.

Much to my surprise, I wasn't shunned, or even frowned upon. I discovered they had jumped to the conclusion, I was merely "praising the lord", so I played on this handy co-incidence to cover my slip-ups.

Mimicking them, I flung my arms up in the air, closed my eyes and between my somewhat mediocre attempt at speaking in tongues, uttered OMG, to my hearts content.I also found out "Speaking in Tongues"doesn't mean what I had initially thought it meant. ( :

Feeling guilty, I had the unexpected urge to confess.(experimentation I guess)OMG! And I tell ya' the ventilation in those boxes is stifling and the leg room, hardly appropriate for the average sized leg...actually in saying so, it makes me want to pop a few of these into the "Suggestion Box", at the front of the Church.

Do you think I should take the pop-up tent in, b"cause lets face it,commuting to the box every time I say***is at the very least, a little disturbing, if not inconvenient.

OMG!!! And you think you're annoyed?!?!?!?!?
---All the Best, and OMG, lets just watch the language a bit huh?
---Grace (- :

No, I don't think I do.
Or maybe I'm ignorantly unaware, if I do.

I do think it can be an expressive term though.
It can be used on many more occasions than just shock.
It's great used in exasperation, disbelief, joy and even grief.

I once posted a question regarding an acquaintance who had had 5 abortions, she was almost using it as a form of contraception.
I got many good answers, but chose an answer which simply read: OMG.

~:~ Those three little letters represented so much in that instance.

I see you didn't like my answer, Rockmum. My last sentences were meant for the other person, not you. In spite of what I said, if it was my question to choose the best answer, I'd go for the "other person's" answer because she really says it a lot. I do not take this subject lightly as you may have concluded but happen to have a problem when someone claims to be an atheist...and to top it, keeps saying OMG!

Yes I do. As like yourself I am getting annoyed with it myself. I try to look for other things to say, but so far no luck. Well hopefully soon, cause I know I am getting on my own nerves. Well good luck to you.

I find it morally and religiously offensive. It also displays poor grammar and ignorance.
