Put a dressing of high potash on it now, this will help slow down the growth, leave the grass longer and just take off the top 1/2inch over the winter periode.
I have been knowen to still be cutting grass in December and January here in the UK

You cannot stop it from growing as it is still (hopefully) a living plant. It will go dormant, but still needs to be fertalized prior to dormancy with a winterizer fertilizer that will help it grow in the spring into a healthy, lush lawn much sooner than without it.
You typically will need to cut it about every 4 weeks and will need to make sure it is watered once a week to keep it alive if your area (even if it is cold) doesn't get rain or snow.

You will get to stop mowing shortly. It won't keep growing over the winter BUT, you should fertilize it before the winter..."winterize" fertilizer....with or without weed killer!! Not to worry. The lawn will be fine and if you fertilize it, it'll look even better in the spring!! Good Luck.

Around November time to stop cutting but if its too wet leave it .Growth should stop during the winter.Only apply a winter root fertilser from now on & a moss kill if you have a moss problem.During the autumn clear dead leaves they must not be left to lie over winter ,the grass will be smothered & possibly die also break down worm casts otherwise you will end up with a bumpy lawn

I would cut it up to the first week of November and then it stops growing throughout the winter. Put some feed and weed powder down so all the weeds stop coming through in the spring. Dont forget its prining time now too )

I mow mine whenever it needs to be mowed. If it's still growing and the grass is dry, it gets mowed. I also mow up the leaves instead of raking them up. It wont hurt the grass to mow it .... even in the winter. If you have cold winters the grass won't grow very much and you won't need to worry about mowing.
