I'm a male. I'm 19 ys old, and I'm a 1st generation Irish American. Both my parents r from Ireland & r both ethnically Irish. I love only one country though & that country is America. I have no political or national loyalty 2 Ireland only 2 America. I understand that Americans intermarry w/people of different ethnic origins (like German, Polish, & English 4 example) & races (Asian, Black, Hispanic etc.), but since I have pure origins I don't want 2 break that apart (and people don't tell me about how the Irish are made up of Celts, Danes, Anglo-Saxon etc. because i know and thats what makes the Irish irish---those combinations made what we know as the Irish so there is such a thing as being pure Irish). Like I said though i won't break that up. I will only marry and produce someone who is of 100% Irish origin . I'm an American only but I want to carry on this Irish ethnic pureness. R there any pure Irish-Americans out there or other pure ethnic Americans who wish to do the same thing?

To the 4th post: you obviously didn't read my details. I said I'm first generation Irish since my parents came to America in the early 1980's

to the 5th post who said my children will ultimately marry other people. you probably are right. some of my children will probably intermarry, but that is why i plan on having like 15-20 kids so some will actually carry on the Irish purity. Also i am especially worried about carrying this on since Ireland is currently being overrun by Polish and other Eastern European immigrants. I feel a sense of duty to my origin

to the 6th post: The "black irish" is a myth. Supposedly survivors from the Spanish Armada landed on the west coast of Ireland and populated there, but this has been proven false. The black hair comes from the indigenous peoples of Ireland. Also even if the this Iberian blood was prevelant in the Irish roots the Celts inhabited the iberian peninsula. just check out the migration patterns of the Celts if you don't believe me, thus all Irish---ginger or the black irish are Irish. And for those of you who think that black irish are actually black africans let me tell you that you are idiots. the black irish are called such because of their darker hair and sometimes more tan skin ( although compared to real tanned people they are fair skinned

Some Greek, Italian, Spanish, Jewish and maybe a few other pure breed families feel this way but we have to remember one thing. America is a melting pot of many origins and that is why we are called Americans. I would hope the you would marry a woman who was 1/2 and 1/2 and be truly happy rather than miserable to a full blooded Irish woman.

By the way I married someone with the identical origins as me. I didn't plan it, it just worked out that way and we are very happy.

Hon, I married outside of the Irish because of the Irish in me, so I am not a good example of pure Irishness. I married first a man of Japanese ancestry and my next husband is a man of African-American-Irish ancestry. The reason being is of the Irish tendency to imbibe a bit too much!

Well, I think it's possible your children may marry out of their Irish ancestor pool. Why does it really matter who breaks outside of the box first? I understand once you have a view point it's hard to rid yourself of it because it seems like such a part of who you are, but...Marry Irish if you really feel it necessary but maybe you should really figure out why you're doing it. You are still you regardless of your mate. You are Irish through and through and your children, regardless of their ancestor percentages you will love regardless.

It's sad when people are like you. You eliminate so many potential prospects for finding the most ideal mate. I won't bother placing your motives under a magnifying glass, because you've already arrived at a problematic conclusion that speaks for itself.
One thing I'd like to know is, are you so picky that you'll only stick with gingers, or are black irish ok with you?

No, I'm not racist. I don't think about "ethnic pureness," and neither did my ancestors.

Mother's ancestry: Dominican Republic. Roots from Palestine, Spain, and France

Ethnicity: Hispanic

Father's ancestry: North America. Roots from England, Germany, Scotland, and France

Ethnicity: Caucasian
