its the day an italian "stumbled" onto a place that was so NOT india! he brought disease and genocide to an otherwise peaceful,beautiful place. but if your italian, its a day to miss school, have a parade and generally PARTY!

It is a way to honor Christopher Columbus who landed in the New World on October 12, 1492. Had he not been here then, neither would we. Until he proved his theories about the world, people thought if you sailed too far in one direction, you'd drop off into space or something because they thought the world was flat.

Around here we call it Indian Raper Day. Read "A People's History of The United States." Christopher Columbus was a horrible, atrocious person and it is disgusting that we commemorate him in any way.
