Make sure you have the right gap in the plugs. I believe you have the wires on wrong. I'm not sure but I think a Ford is 1,2,3,4 on the passenger side and 5,6,7,8 on the drivers side. Call a dealership and ask them if that is correct. Take the plugs out and roll the engine over till #1 comes up on compression and take the distributor cap off and the rotor will be pointing at #1 and start your firing order from there. If it has a coil pack you'll have to ask the dealer which is #1 because I don't know that answer. Good luck.

it somewhat is possible to get undesirable cord or undesirable spark plugs or the incorrect spark plugs. it is not that undemanding by way of, it somewhat is extra undemanding to get the incorrect spark plugs or combination up the spark plug wires. yet you are able to not pass over cord only one spark plug cord, and with the coil packs according to cylinder one might actually could artwork to pass over cord it. So i'm assuming which you have a Ford Explorer with a rotary distributor, and the two a 6 or 8 cylinder engine. tell your husband the situation and function him recheck his artwork. Get out your vendors instruction manual and make certain you have the main suitable spark plug on your automobile. verify that the spark plugs are appropriate and securely equipped, that the spark plug wires are securely equipped, and that the wires are under pressure to the main suitable plug. reckoning on what 365 days of ford you have this could be somewhat hassle-free to do yet you will could comprehend the firing order. Get a restore instruction manual from the library or look it up via the information superhighway commonly the firing order would have a diagram that teach how the spark plug cord run. If all seems so as or this is previous our potential then circulate to a magnificent storage or ford dealership. you do not prefer to force if avoidable, you would be able to reason extra extreme injury. better of success

I had the similar problem 2 years ago. What I did to fix that was to re-do the wires and plugs (take spark plugs out and inspect them for cracks). It works great on the 2nd try.
Still not sure why it won't work the first time, but certainly something did not work well and the engine didn't like it.
Just my 2 cents in case you ran out of ideas to try.

You could of gotten just a little dirt on one of the plugs when you put them in. Recheck your firing order. Did you change the wires too? When you took them off you could of pulled one lose and now it cause a high speed skip. You are just going to have to retrace all your work ans see what went wrong.

Just in case you want to check your firing order, as you did not indicate year and model. http://www.moddedmustangs.com/ford-firing-orders.html. otherwise I would make sure your gap is right and that the engine will run on those plugs. Some engines call for iridium and will not run properly on anything else.

You probably either did not seat one of the plugs correctly (crossthreaded) or it has vibrated loose... OR it may be that you did not push one of the boots of the plug wires all the way down onto the plug or the distributor.

Did you properly gap the plugs? Did you change the cap and rotor? Is the cap cracked? Is there carbon tracking in the cap?

the only thing that will cause one to run worse is if the plugs are gaped wrong in it,id go back over them and check all of them, that's the only thing that could have happened to it,if that's all that was done to it,good luck.
