or is he just trying to deflect attention away from the team in order to take some of the pressure off? As the owner, not withstanding, does it still give him right to act like a mad man or is there a method to his madness?

I think it is a bad boss that uses threats and negativity to motivate his employees. (I have one like that at my other job, it is no fun to work under those conditions!) George really doesn't know baseball, he knows business and baseball is still a game, still America's past time. The Yankees ain't broke, so don't fix them! I support Torre all the way, I will always be a Yankee fan, but I will be sad and disappointed if Steinbrenner follows through on his threats.

Has he stepped over the line???..........AbsoFREAKINlutely..............Actually I think that puts more pressure on the team..........Now they're not only fighting to stay alive in the playoffs but they're fighting for Torre's managerial career with the Yankees........That's double the pressure because the teams respects and has a closeness with Torre.............Nothing gives him the right to act like a mad man and his timing was terrible.........He should never have spoken like that in the middle of the playoffs when the Yanks are fighting for their lives out there...........Maybe he thought he would light a fire under the players and some will probably say he did because of the way they won tonight.........He could have found another way, without demeaning Torre, to light that fire..............CAT

When in the past 34 years has this man ever shown any restraint? Will he ever change? I highly doubt it.

Comments, ill timed? YES!
Uncalled for? YES!

He surprised me with them! I thought after the playoffs, after the World Series.

The Madness of King George continues

Joe Torre and The Yankees are use to George's methods and he knew they would play for Joe tonight. So what would he use to wake them up aginst the Redsocks?

I don't know if there's a method or not, but the madness is there. He's always been a bit wacky, so the newest installment isn't anything shocking to me.
