I'd start listing a hundred books off the top of my read but they are all girly drama books
A few books i think a guy would like are:
Jack London's White Fang
Jack London's Call of the Wild
Michelle Paver's Wolf Brother
Michelle Paver's Spirit Walker
Go Ask Alice by Anonymous (wait no that is sorta girly)

Read Terry Pratchett's Discworld series for fun. You'll soon be LOL. The first book in the series is "The Color of Magic" but you don't have to start there. If you look for it in the library it's probably in the SF section.
Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun for some serious SF (although you will think it's straight Fantasy until you're about 2/3 through it). It was originally published in 4 volumes, of which the first was "Shadow of the Torturer" (please do not be mislead by this title-- it's not what it sounds like). It's been republished in 2 volumes, the first of which is now titled "Shadow and Claw". There is at least one serious book critic who will tell you this is the best SF ever. Winner of the World Fantasy and Nebula awards.

Just look through tour nearest library/ bookshop and you're sure to find something. That's what I usually do. And don't go only to sections you like. That's what I usually do, when I want a new read and I always spend hours in there.
I'm currently reading 'Sophie Scholl and The White Rose' to be found in history. It's about a group that formed resistance against Hitler and died for it. Sophie Scholl was a member just like her brother, Hans. Ok I admit it's German history but still it's interesting even to anyone who's not German.
Or historical novels about Roman, Medieval times.
The Lord of The Rings
Ireland - a Novel by Franke Delaney (Irish history/ fiction/ family tale... great thing have read it three times already)
Or the Commisario Montalbano novels by Andrea Camilleri (they're supposed to be detctive stories, but are much more than that explaining the mentality of Sicily - my ex boyfriend was from Sicily so I know what I'm talking about - and great fun to read)

Ender's Shadow was really good. Check out the Joe Pitt books from Charlie Huston--but don't let your mom see them. Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit are awesome if the movies didn't wear you out. i recommend getting into the classics. Steinbeck, hemmingway, Twain, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The prerequisites for being an informed young man. Try mags like Wired and the New Yorker, too.

You can try the Ripley series of crime written by the late Patricia Highsmith; the whole series is good. You may have seen and recall the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley"... book is as usual better. The others follow chronologically.
Michael Gilbert wrote a few good ones. Michael Innes... they are or were both British.
There are more...Easy Rawlins mysteries by Walter Mosley; they made the first of those into a movie, too; "Devil with the Blue Dress." and others.

A gentleman I met through my work told me he likes to read a lot of Ken Follett and Robert Ludlum. There are also books by Dan Brown that are not the DiVinci Code, and if you are into some good cop books you could try James Patterson's Alex Cross series, and Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. if you are still stuck for something to read, go to your local library, or a smaller book store and talk to the librarian or sales clerk. Avid readers are always happy to share their preferences with you. Good Luck.

Try the Tripod Series by John Christopher. If you decide to, read White Mountains first. There is a book that was written to take place before the other three "When the Tripods Came", but you will appreciate it much more if you read the other three first, and save that one for last.
