I'm writing a paper on it for a film class. Any thoughts on motifs I should look for or anything that stood out for you? Thanks :)

p.s. if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it- it is FANTASTIC! Look it up at www.imdb.com

I wouldn't use the term fantastic.. but it is an interesting little movie.. ..

hmm.. (bare with me.. I'm very tired so hopefully this makes sense)

What stood out to me is the idea of family.. most movies show either the good or the bad side of family.. this one showed that it really depends.. With one story, you have an otherwise perfect family, who due to one's insecurity and distrust tears his apart.. (this is referring to the gay couple's.. the guys constant attempts to convince his partner that the girls are lying to him.. despite having no proof really does alot of damage).. With Maggie Gylanhall's character, you see the effect she has on another family.. when she uses the father for her own ends without caring about the son's thoughts about it.. And then of course you have the other story where the woman decided that she didn't want a family when she got pregnant, she had the baby adopted, but it stays with her creating permenant issues with perfection and completing tasks.. She has such lingering doubts that she no longer trusts anyone's motives because she couldn't understand her own.. it also shows that the child is not the one who lost out in this case.. and that given the choice, he decides he would rather not know what happened..

Well, those are my thoughts.. as insane as they might seem when I am barely awake..
