It doesn't matter how you would get caught. If the University DID ever find out, they'd throw you out immediately. If they found out after you graduated, they could (conceivably) revoke your diploma! It's not even close to worth the risk.

You should not lie.
That being said, it is very hard for universities to verify extracurriculars. If you overdo it -- then they may check into it & you could get caught. But I imagine that many people pad their list of activities.
Universities know that applicants do this -- and for that reason, I suspect that they do not give as much weight to these activities as many students think they do. You would bne bette served to make sure you have a killer admissions essay.

I have a friend who did this about 15 years ago. She never got caught, and is now a dentist.
Today, things are different, and I believe you would get caught. Also, it is wrong to lie.
Do the right thing.
God bless!

They can ask for proof and it's pretty easy for them to check. Some colleges communicate with each other about dishonest applicants...

Its very easy for them to look them up and the only one that it hurts is you. Telling lies shows bad character, judgment and interpersonal communication skills and schools don't want that. They want well rounded, trustworthy, truthful students with good character.

I feel like that if anything else triggers an alarm in your app, they will most probably research all of it. other than that, although I wholeheartedly disprove of what you've done, i think that you are okay.
