I believe political correctness was started with admirable intentions - but since has grown tentacles and invaded every aspect of our lives.
I also believe most people are sick of being so overly concerned about who they might offend by simply speaking the truth or displaying decorations or other symbols.
It will soon self destruct when the reasons for some people who are offended become even more trivial and frivolous - if that's possible.

No. Political correctness is necessary because there are so many red necks etc that have this stupid idea that everyone else is crap. They are ignorant. I used to have a big neighbour like that. I told him what I thought of his pea brain. And when he came at me I broke his jaw took him by the arm and twisted him hard into the ground.
Now that's political correctness.

Political correctness went too far the day Joseph Stalin invented the term.

MoveOn.org and their ilk are lawsuit mongering socialist bullies. Even liberals can't step out of line within their own ranks. Lockstep. That's the goal.

You have to be careful not to offend someone. What I find hard to swallow is that other people "take offense" to things that are not offensive just to stop debate on a subject. Did you notice that the common term used is "to take offense"? Doesn't mean you "gave" it, just that they took it from you. Seems to me that when someone "takes offense" at something you say, YOUR right to free speech is taken FROM you at the same time the offense is "taken". Welcome to the new America, Pilgrim.

Way too far. We're so afraid of hurting someone's feelings that we've lost our pride, our dignity, our standards. "Political correctness" is an embarrassment to this nation.

There's many on the left who would argue that it hasn't gone far ENOUGH.
