Yes, and if the kid didn't answer somebody could tell you which way they went and find him. We played tag and rode horses. Wonderful way to grow up. With trust!!!!

Yes as a matter of fact I did. The town is Sliver City in Oklahoma. I lived there for about 15 years or so. It had one grocery store/gas station combo and a car repair shop. It has a main road and then a cross road. I went back there about 3 years ago to see the house that I lived in and to see what the town looked like after being gone for about 10 years. It now has a fire department there as well. But every thing else was the same. Glad I don't live there anymore.

Yup sure did. I was outside one day talking with a fella and his mommy called from the back street and we could hear it.
Only problem with this type of community is that everyone knows everyone and if it's been around for years (over 70) and the residents (most) have been there all their lives, then many are related to each other. You are an outsider and will be so for all time. Also many were too interested in what you do and when you come and go.
Unless you're into the local gossip and go to the local church it can be a very boring place.

Yes, I lived in a place like that until I was grown. There was a small market and a post office, they're both gone now, as is the town. It was taken over by the next town and my parents still live there. That one has a stop light now. lol
We knew all the neighbors and the kids played games and rode bikes and ate Popsicles at each others house. We never thought of being afraid, unless we didn't mind our parents. lol

i lived in a big town but our neighborhood was like that! we would all play kick the can or mostly hide and seek! we would hide all through a 2 street area,in anyones yard and we all had so much fun-then you could hear the parents calling in kids til the last ones left would go in cause they were bored! i miss places like that. my kids don't have that kind of great experience.

I lived in a little Florida beach town from about the age of 3 to about 12. I loved it there. I tried to move back there about 15 years ago but, as the saying goes, you can't step into the same stream twice...

The town I was born in was so small that if you blinked when you entered the town, by the time you opened your eyes, you were back out in the country. And that's the truth.
One gas station, one general store, one motel, two bars and, believe it or not, a hospital. It's a boom town now, has about 12,000 people.

Never lived in one, but I spent a few days in one. It was in a very rural part of northwest Oklahoma. The town consisted of a gas station, a restaurant, a small motel, a funeral home and not much else. there were two parallel streets and one cross street. you could walk clear from one side of town to the other in a matter of minutes.

i've got continually been a rustic woman. To be honest, being surrounded via nature and sparkling air is rather great. I certainly have stunning friends, and it somewhat is undemanding to forget with regard to the gossip and small city politics. There are stressful people everywhere, even nevertheless it somewhat is close to impossible to circulate unseen in a great city or city. I spend a honest volume of time interior the city, and it somewhat is poor for me. I hear countless judgment in city people only like I do in usa people. all of us likes to think of they have all of it found out.
