It is called "time". the major web sites have "web-bots", which are programs that spen all their time going from web site to web site and adding them. It often takes 4-6 months for a site to make the listings. The web-bot also has to be able to FIND your site. So you have to have links somewhere on other sites pointing to it. If you have friends with web sites or myspace/facebook pages, ask them to add a link to your page. Otherwise the web-bots will never find you.

As suggested, add your site to search engines like yahoo and google. They usually have a "suggest link" hidden somewhere, but you may have to register with them first.
Another tactic to get sites to link to you is to join relevant forums and post articles suggesting people visit your site. Be sure not to violate the rules of the forums though or you may find yourself visited more by flamers than guests.
