An oppressed people hailing their savior. The robots have become sentient, conscious, in an effort by their creators to get around the limits set by the three laws of robotics initially postulated by Isaac Asimov. The only way around the limits was/is to give the robots free will, the ability to see beyond the rule to its purpose and to appreciate that focusing on the rule sometimes leads to its violation. Humans were/are not ready for that, so the robots were marginalized and will now be led out of the "wilderness" of the freight cars into the bright future of positronic robots free of the three rules.

You know where it shows the robot drawing that picture of a man standing on a hill with all the robots looking at him as if he saved them, and he said it was Will Smith's character, well it is actually Sonny.
