What do you think of the new movie Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp? I think it is going to be great since Tim Burton is directing it.

I like the musical Sweeney Todd and could imagine no one else but Burton directing a film version of it. With it's dark but sometimes humorous story, the material is right up his alley...plus he's done musicals in the past.
Have to admit since I was a bit leery of a younger cast (mostly because I was used to Len Carriou / Angela Lansbury playing the leads) but I think Depp and Carter will pull it off. Glad to see a planned "R" rating for this...keep it dark, creepy and occasionally violent.
My only concern is the are going for a (limited) Dec. 21 release, with a full release in mid January. Why didn't they aim at October? Do people really want to see a tale about a killer barber and his lady friend who makes human meat pies four days before Christmas or a week into the New Year for that matter? Yeah, that's cherry family fare!

The trailer makes me want to see it so bad!! Props to whoever made that trailer. I can't wait to see another Burton/Depp collaboration...those two are both so talented and there is no way it could be a bad movie. Some people seem to think that Johnny won't be a very good singer based on the tiny snippet in the trailer but he sounded fine to me. I can't wait until December so I can finally see it after looking forward to it for so long!!!!!!

i am absolutely looking forward to this movie. especially since Johnny Depp is the main character and Tim Burton is directing in it. Edward Scissorhand was my favorite movie as a kid and well.. i would say, this movie is gonna be the movie of the season!(:

Sweeney Todd for optimistic! Johnny Depp delivered it to existence, yet even without Johnny, this is nonetheless a remarkable prepare. I fell in love with the action picture and the unique musical score. i like it! Mamma Mia would be lifeless and uninteresting without the Abba music, and the storyline in basic terms stinks. Who incredibly needs to work out yet yet another prepare approximately who the toddler daddy is? this is like a Maury Povich prepare set to music!

Tim Burton has a reputation for directing overly trippy movies (if you don't believe me, watch Planet of the Apes).

Johnny Depp is an awesome actor, but "Sweeney Todd" looks rather morbid... I don't think I'll be seeing that one.
