The CSU schools do not have a good reputation in general -- but the Cal Poly schools seem to be the exception. They are certainly respectible. US News ranks it a a good regional university

On the other hand, even the worst UC school is ranked as a first tier national university.

UC Davis is one of the best public universities in the country. US News ranks it #42 in their rankings of National Universities. It is much more highly respected than Cal Poly.

If you can get into a UC school -- go there.

Cal Poly SLO (no longer Pomona) is on par with the mid point UC's for those 2 aspects. this is not any longer on par with Berkeley, l. a. or SD. it gets you the comparable jobs and salaries that the mid and decrease tier united stateswill. this is not on the comparable lists as faculties that supply PhD's which the CSU's do no longer. The admissions standards for different majors additionally drag them down in rankings. yet a lot of infants get into UCI, D, SB, R and M for engineering that are rejected via SLO.
