Probably at a funeral. But I still say there is no use crying over spilled milk because what's done is done and you just have to keep moving forward with a positive view on life.

You say that to someone who is brooding over a mistake or some unfortunate event, so that they would stop thinking about that thing which they cannot fix or change anymore and just go on with other things they have to do.

I do not agree with people who would say it at a funeral. That is way too heartless. When you say "No use ... spilt milk", you are being practical, objective, unemotional and so on. You cannot be so detached about very personal things like death, or breaking up with a boyfriend, or getting divorced. In these situations, it's inappropriate, and if you *did* say it in these situations, do not be surprised if the person you said it to gives you a dirty look.

When my mother died and I didn't get their in time to say I love you Mom. Just 45 mins and things would have been different, but I had to go from Kentucky to Delaware. Believe it or not my aunt said just that. I hate that ***** to this day.
