I remember wearing pleated skirts with little shorts, but not the slits in the side. I don't remember what they were called. We also had skooter skirts, they were like shorts and skirts combined. My sister was younger than me, but tall and she got sent home in the 8th grade for wearing one, though every one else did too. Did my mom ever go give that teacher and principal an ear full!

I don't remember the "pert skirt" but I practically grew up wearing "skorts". They were a mini-pleated short skirt (usually in a plaid...I had red and green and blue ones, the red being my favourite), which had an attached shorts underneath that had elastic around the thighs so they wouldn't show any underwear.

Yes, I remember. They were so cute. But the dress code back then was a little hmmm.... restrictive. I even remember when women couldn't wear pants to work. The first change was when they were finally allowed to wear "pant suits", but there had to be a matching jacket. Certainly no jeans. Guess that makes us older than dirt. HA - look what they wear now.

I don't recall "Pert Skirts" but when I was in elementary school, (50's) I wore "skorts" in the summer. The were a short pleated skirt with shorts combined. They were so comfy & cool & I wore a sleeveless blouse with them. (they weren't allowed in school)

I remember wearing something similar. There were many names for them .... now they are called a skort, but I remember culottes, and scooter skirts.

Hmm? Think that was a little before my time. What year was this? If this was a tunic-style top or blouse with matching shorts, then yes.
