just what are you exactly is the "good idea", is it the american-filipina part, or the wants to marry part?
well, when it comes to getting married, only you can tell. if you love each other and have accepted each other's imperfections, then go ahead. congratulations!
if its on the american-filipina thing, race does not really matter. but CULTURE at some point does matter a lot. we filipina women are devoted wives and mothers. we love taking care of the family, even though we are at work, we still think of the children. filipinas MARRY FOR LIFE.
however, you have to be aware of a few down side to marrying a filipina:
1. you not only marry the girl, but you marry the clan as well
2. some filipinas have the misconception or idea that if they marry a foreigner, the husband -- their knight in shining armour -- will take them away to dreamland. the worst part here is if the family is expecting the same.
the best thing is to come to the philippines and visit the girl and family in her own "ecosystem". that way, you will really get to see how and what she is in her natural world.

It's OK, it all depends on both of you. The Philippines is the largest Amerasian country in the world and has Asia's largest non-combatant American population, anyway. Well to be honest, most Filipinas are attracted to Whites because of their Caucasoid features such as White skin and the mere thought of producing Caucasoid-looking children thrills them.
It all depends on you:
GOOD SIDE:
1. If you love her, then there's nothing wrong with getting married with her.
2. The Philippines is Westernized in culture so there will probably be no cultural shocks or something like that.
BAD SIDE:
1. Well, thing is, a lot of Filipino males are now left with no one because Filipinas want Western males - which results to a renewed call against Colonial Mentality.
Colonial Mentality, by the way, is the desire for anything Western or Caucasoid, particularly Caucasoid features, and even the conscious purchasing only of American-made products.

I have been with my filipina girlfriend for two years. We plan on getting married in a year or so. Our relationship is based on love not some type of arrangement. We feel and look very natural together, matter of fact we sent out Xmas cards with a picture of us and our dog and have gotten dozens of compliments. I think the awkward looking couple is the mail order wife situation when the girl is still FOB and the guy is either twice her age or some Chester the molester looking guy. If both people are good looking then they make a good looking couple, and have beautiful kids.

You might get mixed answers on this. I lived in misery for years married two white women who both fired me. Met and married a Filipina and I never knew life could be so good....for both of us. Just make sure you get the right one. As for me, I wouldn't give an American woman a second look. And sex aint got nothing to do with it as some suggest here. Just visit and you'll discover something you want and need from life. Good luck.

It depends on your intentions, and it depends on the woman's intentions. If both of you are truly inlove, nothing's wrong with that. I am a filipina married to an American. Of course, as normal couple, we also experience some hardships, but as long as the love is there and both of you respect each other, then i'd say there would be no problem. It is a good idea because Filipino women are the ideal wives (as most men refer to). Goodluck and be happy! =)

Well first off all women are different and unique, and that includes Filipinas. It isn't like going into a grocery store, and buying a bag of doughnuts after all.
Most are good, but some are bad as anywhere.
It is all a question of meeting the right person, someone with whom you are compatible. Someone whose company you enjoy, and she in turn yours.
The Filipinas are not doormats, so don't expect to be able to walk all over them, they are very emancipated. Like all women they want love, affection and loyalty. The big difference is that they are very feminine, and family orienated. Most have pride to their bodies, and reputation.
I am married to a Filipina, for years into double figures, and she is the best thing that ever happened to me. We lived in UK for several years, but eventually I took early retirement and we moved here.
The main consideration is love, that you love her as a person, a unique individual. No doubt you will meet her family first, who will ask you what your intentions are towards their family member. It helps you to see her family as well.
I met my wife to be, through sheer chance, the day before I was going home. Eyes across a crowded room, they touched, moved away, then touched and embraced. We spoke, we talked, and suddenly there was no one else in the room for either of us.
I wish you good luck, and happiness!

Getting married is not an "Idea" and it does not matter if she is Filipina or any other nationality. I think you need to define and understand what marriage is before you go around asking such a question. I hate to see you getting married to a Filipina because its just a good idea.

Yes its proven many times over that submissive filipina women makes for a good wife but there are also some who are just seeking for the heck of it. My advice is look for a filipina that is regenerated christian ages 25 to 35 and you will have a 95% assurance that you can have her for life.

I have a fiancee from the Philippines and hope she will be here with me in Australia soon, just waiting for the Visa to be approved.
You have to really love the woman because there are an enormous number of hurdles and expenses if you want to bring her to your country. Plus when you get her home you have to help her adjust to a new country and culture.
Also family is very important to the filipino so you will get a very large extended family who may look upon you as a walking ATM.
Having said all that I wouldn't swap my fiancee for the world.
