Much like at the beginning of this season, and, more importantly, at the beginning of this series, they guaranteed the Yankees will win in the Playoffs. NOW they are acting, once again, as though it's all over and they have come bac kto wrap it up, all because they've manageed to avoid a sweep of this series. Yankees fans need to simmer down now, tone the volume of the banter down slightly and learn what it means to be humble the definition of humility...This WILL NOT be the first time the Yankees have suffered a first-round exit!

Many years ago, I was futzing through the channels, waiting for the Super Bowl to start -- typically the only football game I bother watching all year -- and I settled on the pre-game show for a bit because it looked interesting. One of the reporters was doing the "talk to the tailgating fans" bit, but this one was for laffs, as the fans being interviewed were the Saturday Night Live Superfans, the guys who love Da Bears! above all else. And they were getting ready to go in and watch Da Bears! win another Super Bowl. The gag, of course, was that Da Bears! weren't playing, but the Superfans live in this sort of denial, that Da Bears! not being in the Big Game is simply inconceivable. In voiceover, the reporter wrestled with his conscience, should he play along or cleave to his journalistic integrity* and tell the Superfans that Da Bears! were, in fact, not in the game.

He told them. They started having heart attacks. He quickly recanted, claiming it was just a joke, and they immediately recovered.

It was funnier than I'm describing it, but only if one had seen the SNL Superfans before.

That's Yankees fans. No amount of truth or fact-based evidence is sufficient to shake the faith that They Are The Champions. Unfortunately, unlike the Superfans, it's not funny. Kinda pathetic really. It's not all of Yankee fandom, but it is a big proportion.

They need forty years wandering the desert, they really do.

Seems like Indian fans were acting like it was over after game 1. Every year all you yankee haters say this stuff "gonna lose again" etc. but every year we are back. If we lose this year we (big if) will be right back in the playoffs next year. Can your team say that? Thats why we are confident. "cocky" As haters call us. But usually not in the postseason we know anything can and will happen in the playoffs and as im reading through here i haven't seen any yankee fans talking smack. Mostly Indian fans (so called) as alot of you indian fans were probably fans of another team before they played the yanks. Stick with your own team haters!

I just find it funny. For the past couple of games you haven't heard a peep from the Yankees fans (except about the bugs contributing to losing 1 of the 2 games). Now all of a sudden they're winning ONE game and they're coming out of the wood work.

God help us...the ignorance and arrogance is coming back....

I HOPE THEY BECOME THE NEW CUBS AND GO 100 YEARS NOT 200 YEARS WITHOUT WINNING A WORLD SERIES. AND ANYONE WHO THINKS THEY WILL BE GOOD IN 2008 OR 2009 ARE IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE.
THEY WILL BE UNDER .500 NEXT YEAR & WHEN THEY OPEN UP THEIR NEW STADIUM.
