Looking at the numbers.

He broke Marino's passing records. He passed Elway as the QB with most victories. He's proving that he returned for more than a record.

The problem with the stats is that the rules have changed so much to benefit the passing game, that an above average QB like Bledsoe or Kerry Collins can match in 8-9 seasons Bradshaw, Namath or Staubach numbers.

He needs one more 4th quarter comeback to tie Marino's 37 as the 2nd best.

But...................I don't remember him having performances like "The Drive" by Elway, "The greatest game ever played" like Unitas or "The Catch" like Montana. Not even one like Peyton Manning last season in AFC championship. or winning drives like Tom Brady.

That's why he'll be considered among the best but not in the same line with the Montanas, Elways and Unitases.

brett favre greatest football player

there is no greatest qb alone. qb's like favre, elway, and montana were great in certain areas, and certain areas alone. in no way are any of these qbs better than each other. nobody can throw the ball favre can throw it. favre has worked with little talent around him, yet he still won games. montana has the rings. elway was known for the 2 minute drill. no matter how you look at it, they were the best in certain areas. favre is no doubt among the best though.

Brett Favre is resilient, very good player, the Cal Ripkin of football. Good numbers, but mainly because he was lucky enough not to be injured and played for along time. Had he been hurt along the way, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

There is only one player to ever be League MVP 3 times in a row. More wins than any other QB, 261 straight starts, more TD's than any other QB. Is he the best? That argument can be made.

His stats are great and he is a very good QB.
I would say he is in the top 10 of al-time QB's.
Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Roger Staubach were better.
He is definately an intense player.
If you mean player, then he may be in the top 100.
Stop giving everyone a thumbs down because they don't agree with you.
Isn't that why this is an open discussion.
If you want everyone to agree with you go talk to yourself in a closet.

I think he's in the top 15 but I think Dan Marino was a better quaterback.

However i have to say this about Brett. He has a golden arm that has been slinging for almost 2 decades and no matter how many picks he throws i'll always rank him as the most respectable QB to ever play.

The best of anything is really hard to quantify in the arena of human competition. In the NFL, "best" typically gets ranked in terms of Super Bowl titles. I think when he's done he's an absolute lock for the Hall of Fame, and he may have a chance to pick up another title this year; they're going to have to find a running game this year.

I look at it like this: if I had a chance to get him for my team, would I want to do it? Even at his age, this year it'd be an uniquivocal "yes".

Can you say Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, and Dan Marino? All are better then Favre.
