Altitude refers to its angular height above the horizon. Latitude is used for position on Earth north or south of the equator. Solar latitude is the same thing on the Sun. In the sky, the analogous term is declination, to describe the angular distance from the celestial equator. I have seen "ecliptic latitude" to describe a planet's position north or south of the ecliptic, but the ecliptic latitude of the Sun is always 0.

it is earth reference position kind of like a street address BUT the earth is spinning and moving in orbit so the apparent sun position changes it is hard to imagine because we think we are standing still and the sun moves a circle is on e round trip O the numbers are how you divide it up 1/2 1/4 ... or in degrees 1/360 or hours 1/24 or radians which take too much math for you in ancient times people thought the sun and stars were gods ( sun's day) careful observation by early astrologers and later astronomers lead to the math description of motion

pretty much same as on earth.
but since sun is not solid the altitude can refer to the sun's inner structures. forgot what they are called
