12 x 36

the width = a
the lenght = 3a

and there are 2 lenghts and 2 widths

so 96 = 2(4a)
96= 8a
96 / 8 = a
12 = a

right, so perimeter = 2 x length + 2 x width

you know that 96 = 6l + 2w

so 48 = 3l + w

divide 48 by 4, so one equals 12. The width is 12, the length is 36.

To check- 2 times 12 add 2 times 36 should equal 96, which is does

We know L +w+w+l = 96

Also, we know 3l=w.

so L + 3l +L +3l=96
8L=96
L=12
w=36.
