60,000 to 80,000 a year and who would actually qualify for the "alternative minimum income tax as "affluent (fairly wealthy)" families?

avail--funded? It is funded by Medicare and Medicaid that the elderly and senior citizens depend on for their very life.

NO! What is their obsession with taxpayers turning over every penny they make in taxes for all their hundreds and hundreds of programs that is only going to make THEM richer and us poorer?!

The income level is on a sliding scale and depending on what you make determines how much you pay for the insurance. Many people have been reporting this as meaning everybody qualifies for the same plan but it's not true. People making close to 80,000 will have to pay much more for it than someone making 25,000.

No and I'm a democrat. However, I haven't read the bill and don't know under what circumstances that someone with this income would be eligible. In some parts of the country, $80,000 would not be wealthy. The cost of living in some states is very different from others.

Depends on what you define as "funded". if it is a subsidized group health insurance program, based on dependants and income, SURE, as long as it gets rid of the socialized welfare version of health coverage.
We all benefit when healthcare providers aren't passing the losses incurred from people who cannot afford to pay onto the rest of us in the form of higher prices.
Its not rocket science, you know?!

No. It's a silly numbers game.
They don't address the fact that a large portion of the children they say they will cover are already covered.
If they wanted to get my attention, give a tax break to those families that are already covering their children and get that money back in to the economy to increase revenue so you could do a better job covering the kids that are NOT already covered.
But that will never happen. When you say TAX BREAK to a Democrat, they run to the toilet and puke.
BTW: Nancy Pelosi was asked this direct question this morning by Wallace. She dodged it and just repeated the increased number of children it would cover. Never mentioned that those kids already had insurance.

Why is it the Governments responsibility to provide Health Care to everyone? If you think Health Care is expensive now, what do you think it would cost if the Government controlled it? Someone is going to pay for it, and Nothing is Free. Oh Yea, Government Money is Money taken from the People thru Taxation.

No I do not even support universal health care for myself. The world is a dark, cold, and hard place. You have to be harder, when your hit it is up to you to get up and say is that all you got. Nowhere does having a nanny state do that. If you can take care of yourself, well lifes tough get tougher.

I believe the effort is from both political parties, not the Democratic party exclusively. I do support the plan and hope it will be enacted and the veto is overridden.

No, it's ridiculous. Pretty soon we should start calling the government "mom and dad".
Poor children already get free healthcare benefits with Aid to Dependent children.

Yes. I know people who own their own small business. To ensure their family is well over $600 a month. That's practically a mortgage payment.
