I have a black Ben Sherman suit coat that is of extremely high quality and is a great fit, but I do not have the matching pair of pants nor do I have any color swatch. If I took the coat to a tailor, could they make me a pair of pants that matched the suit coat?

Probably, if you went to a good tailor. However, be ready to spend a pretty penny, it will probably be expensive.

IF and I do mean if you can find an old timer from Italy or
other european country that knows how to do it, otherwise
search the 'www' by using keywords for B.Sherman and Tailors.

The difficulty would be in matching the fabric, not just colour.
Ask the tailor;-} they can tell you how close a match.
