Forgive me for not including any of the above?
Faltering & stumbling, the very root of this--is lack of in-touchness with oneself. Not having yet perceived your path, the instability of "your" environment. The IMMEDIATE unpredictability for not being able to "see" pitfalls or smooth ascendancy.
You choices indicate this ambivalance. It can "feel" like one world in pulling one of your arms off your body, & another world pulling off the other. When it is YOUR inner world that matters.
I don't recall that I've ever posted about my life; it would be "inappropriate." But, I am going through something I think is similar. Especially after what happened to my sister. I feel that I am starting to falter & stumble, yet--I am human after all! (Surprise.) I MUST come to terms with ME.
The last--we cannot "step up" until we have "found" ourselves. It isn't easy; pain isn't easy--possible failure to those we love isn't easy.
When we look about & discover "where" we are, (because we are always WHO we are, but are sometimes lost along the way), we will not falter or stumble. I can only wish strength & insight to those who do. Including myself. I wish you well; please wish the same for me.
Edit: I don't believe it's "will power"--will power intimates--could if you would. Not necessarily. Sometimes it is a quiet place for introspection.

I'm pretty sure the list goes far beyond the one you've provided, and I'm pretty certain that there is no one reason, but many.
As for your list, I'd say that it's jumping into conclusion, because then they miss a few steps and eventually fall. But just the opposite of that, not stepping up also is a cause, because they're not taking steps at a fast enough pace.
As for things off your list, i'd say in general, it's the lack of will power to do any of which counter the "falter/stumble" qualities

By not stepping up, you won't even get started so I don't think that is a reason.
People who jump, run, or move fast usually can do it well, so that is not a good answer.
So I guess it would be walking backwards.
You will never get anywhere going backwards which will cause you despair and you will falter and stumble trying to get back onto the path in the right direction.

i only falter for jumping into conclusions and the uttermost reason is, i guess, obvious...
for the others, i stumble (literally and not), and the uttermost reason is because i just see the destination and don't pay attention to what's lying around on the way to there... only my lucky star keeps me for not falling (most of the times)...

Not to worry enki we all make mistakes in life some big and some small, it is a part of our nature as humans lol. I 'm glad to here another of your questions dear. how ya been? drop bye with a quick line if you like. Now for your question hehehehe, for me it is that i am a pure dummy whose feet and hands are accident prone, just the other day I feel over my step while leaving to go to work while at work I banged my arm and now have a huge bruise on it and when I came out of work I tripped on the side walk and fell flat on my butt. (stop laughing it's not funny) and of course with my luck most of my co-workers were there to witness it. lol oh well I was embarrassed but that is okay life is to short to worry about the small stuff. Now on the more serious side of the question I'd say jumping in to conclusion is my big falter sometimes my heart gets in the way of my mind and it wins over my brain, not that there is a big struggle to overcome, my heart is huge my brain so very little lol. needless to say my heart can beat down my brain quite easily. oh and moving too fast both in the physical aspect and in the mental and emotional aspect some times too. bye sweety take care okay?
Note to psychic cat, lol it is not time to retire just to take a break , you need to take time to release the burden you carry every day and just think of yourself, do this for a couple of days and you'll find yourself refreshed. p.s Also I will give you my email as requested okay. feel free to finish our discussion anytime and or drop aline just to chit chat or say hi. bye bye.

I would say the reason of why People sometimes Falter, or Stumble, is because of feeling Insecure, of themselves.

All of the above and than some. For instance, being caught in a lie. Then the person looks for a hole to jump in and tries to cover up.

Jumping into conclusion, because you can really mess up and hurt many feelings. You need to think before you say anything about others.

To me, it would be not stepping up. It's when you hesitate and question what you are doing that you falter. You are left with doubts and are unsure of what to do. Confusion stops you from taking a step forward.
