I am breaking down a play into units. My question has to do with numbering said units. Do I restart the numbering with each new scene within the act, for example, Act One Scene One Unit One, Act One Scene Two Unit One, or do I continue numbering the units straight through for the duration of the act? For example, Act One, Scenes 1-6, Units 1-37?

I think I would prefer the numberng by scenes, your first example, The only unit division that makes any sense is the French Scene. It roughly corresponds with Deitrich's motivational units whidh roughly correspond to Stanislavski beats---all of which may be useful to the director but from which the actor should be spared.
