ok i know thers about 50 of these same questions out ther but let me ask you this.(This is for those people who think if you put ovechkin in pittsburgh and crosby in washington) do you honestly believe that if pittsburgh drafted him that he could turn that team around ,break lemieuxs rookie record and than come into his second year and lead the nhl? even with malkin and staal. I sure *** hell dont. now if washington drafted crosby he would of done the same thing he did to pittsburgh, turn them into a powerhouse. But look the point is if you took any struggling team and they drafted crosby he would turn any of those teams into contenters, while still putting up 100 pt seasons.acaould ovy do that? unlikely. now while your writing your comments, just took a look at these stats ovechkin took 425 shots to get 52 goals, where as crosby took just 250 shots to get 39 goals so if crosby took teh amount of shots as ovechkin thats roughly 60 goals, certainly capable of a player with his skills.

crosby could take that many shots and score that many goals but he's not a puck, he's indeed the best hockey player in the nhl or the world for that matter, his playmaking is perhaps only matched by joe thornton( the leading scorer since the lock-out)

Crosby is definitely better than Ovechkin. Everyone should draft Crosby before Ovechkin. Any fantasy manager drafting Oveckin before Crosby or willing to trade away Crosby for Ovechkin straight up are welcome to my league.

The thing with Ovechkin is that he's a goal scorer. The fact that he can finish top 10 in scoring while playing for a team like Washington shows that he can score no matter who he's playing with. But he can only score that many goals. He needs to have a good team around him to make his goals count. Crosby, on the other hand, is a playmaker. He's more about making nice passes so his teammates can score. One of the reasons he's dubbed the next Wayne Gretzky is because he makes the other guys on his team better. That's why in his first season he didn't do as well as Ovechkin. The Pens couldn't get the right guys to play with him. Now he's obviously better off than Ovechkin (no offense, Ovechkin is doing great too) because he's got Malkin, Staal and a lot more talented young players to play with.

You may be correct and forget about fantasy owners, if I am an NHL GM and I am starting a team from scratch or have the 1st overall pick Crosby is my first choice even if Ovechkin is in the same draft, however you are discounting what is the most important point in my opinion. The Penguins have done a drastically better job of rebuilding their team. The Penguins have a very nice mix of talented youth and veterans. The Capitals have Ovechkin and Semin and not a whole lot else. The Penguins are going to be looking at the possibility of losing some of that talent because of salary cap restrictions in coming seasons. Ovechkin doesn't have much of a choice but to shoot so much because he doesn't have nearly as talented supporting cast around him.

Crosby rules
Ovechkin drools

One thing that everybody forgets is that Ovechkin was a year older than Crosby as a rookie, and he had played at a higher level in Russia than Crosby played at in junior.

The other thing, is as rookies, Ovechkin played 8.6% more minutes, but only 3.9% more points.

One of your points was.........could Ovechkin do the same things with Pittsburgh that Crosby has. I personally believe he could have put up similar numbers in Pittsburgh.

You are correct. Crosby would inprove any team. Ovechkin would too but reverse the teams would the Caps be that much better the last two years? I don't think so. Thye have a bunch of plumbers in their lineup and an aging goalie.

Comparing the two has been done to death. Can we stop now?

Are you saying that the two are comparable? and did you see then pens in crosby's rookie year?

Ovechkin is a winger. Crosby is a Center. Crosby's job is to pass, Ovechkin's is to score.

I think you're a moron.
