Fate is something written down, and it has to happen, i believe in fate, i think every move we do is planned somewhere, and that we can never beat fate, i thaught about it a lot, and sometimes i'm like when i'm coming back home should i go this way or other way and than i think that i usualy go this way so i should go the un-usual way, but again i think and say FATE for me was to stop and think which way i should go and what will i eventually decide is the thing that is "written down" somehwere...lol i believe in destiny.I watched also a movie, a girl is coming back to home, and than movie splits on 2 parts:
1)If she make it to Metro.
2)If door of Metro close before she get in.
If she make it in, she meets 1 guy and later she get married to him.
If she don't, she stays with current bf, but than 1 year later, she broke up with him and meet same guy from metro in elevator.
So that is DESTINY...
But again i can talk about it all day, we can never be sure about it, we can never prove it, but it's important to BELIEVE, like believing in GOD, it's same case for destiny, i never saw him, but i know he exist!
Ask ur self, if destiny does not exist, how did people even came to think about that there is destiny? Some things can not be just storys and tales, but again that's just my opinion!
BTW:Are u actually going to read ALL our answers?Haha they are all so long Mili!:)
@Fresh Prince:Yes i've been thinking same as you, but if we lived in "Perfect world" it would of become the Hell it self, trust me...there is no perfect in anything my friend, there will always be all bad things that are unfortunately part of life, but did u knew that Anthyc Egyptians believed only in life after death and they were considering it real life, eternal life, they puted all they're lifes just in 1 purpose, to live life after death, and again that can not be just a mit, they had some strong reasons to believe in that i'm sure!
But nice thinking anyway, have a thumb-up....

Fate is mostly about opinion i guess you can say. For me it's a combination of both. As for decided for us that's odd to explain. I think it's not that much decided for us, I think we have the chose to change it but most times we choose not too. And life gives the roads but we choose from left and right [if you know what I mean] some things we can't change. I've learned that death is one of those. And through that I learned to not fear it, we all have our dying day and that is something that I consider fate. You can't control it when or where or how. It will just happen. And people that try to "control" end up not living the life most wish. However, I think there are things we can control like who we trust and where we live and how we choose the roads... which ultamitly can change some of the fate. So it's like a chain that feeds off one an other with out control there is no Fate and without fate there is no control. You have to work to a degree so that fate is possible. You can't expect to get everything without working to gain what you want, which also means you have to work to gain Fate. Fate is needed in life at least I believe so. Somethings you just have to let go and see what happens and that's fate. but some you just have to keep control off.

This is a very subjective question and everyone will have their own view on the matter, and this seems primarily dependant on whether the individual believes in some sort of divine power like God.
I believe that there is a distinction between destiny and fate and that we have control over our fate but not our destiny. Now if this sounds confusing let me try and explain using an example.
I believe that on a certain date I am destined to cut my hand and this I have no control over, however I control my fate because the extent to which I cut my hand is something that will be based on my decisions. I may start being blasé and not pay attention to how I am preparing the meat for my casserole and as a result I may cut off the tip of my finger. On the other-hand if I am cautious and pay attention then I may only knick the tip of my finger.
So as you can see in what I am describing I had no control over my destiny but I controlled my fate using my decisions on life.
I hope that this explains my personal view point on the matter. I would be interested to know what you think of this question.

Combo of both but mostly I believe It's your decisions and control is an illusion.
You never really have control because everyone elses decisions affect what you do, just as your decisions affect others. Leave 30 seconds late and you're behind some doofus going 20mph in 45mph zone. Leave 30 seconds earlier maybe you're in a wreck. You have no way of knowing what will happen. What you can do though is with better decision making, create a direction you want your life to go. Think of the consequences of decisions before you make them and then decide if it's worth it.
Why is control an illusion? Because whether you realize it or not, you're reacting to things happening throughout your day versus controlling what happens.
Some things it is hard to explain such as long lost twins meeting up seemingly by accident who never knew the other existed. Stories of 'chance' happenings. I'll give the nod to Fate on those to a degree yet every decision those two ever made if life led to that moment in life.

I'm not suicidal, but when times get rough, i truly think about it and sometimes it's hard to think about anything else, and i think about death very much. But it is normal, and i'm only 12, but this is what you should keep in mind. It doesn't matter when you die, cuz it will only be in the Lord's timing. When you go, you'll only be going to a better place, heaven, of course if you deserve to go to heaven. It is scary and I understand how you feel, except the suicide part which makes it even worse for you. The best thing to do is to know, that you can't take your own life. You may have these feelings because of the extreme losses you have suffered, but just know that you are safe.

Fate - that concept makes no sense, and denies the most powerful thing about us - the power to choose. If "fate" were to dictate things happening, that would mean that we have no freedom of choice - things happen because of fate. That is silly. We all know that it's not the way it is.
Things happen because we have to power to make them happen. I've given quite a few motivational talks to groups in the last few years, since my accident. I was critically injured and had to relearn how to walk and talk, how to breathe and move, all over again.
Was it fate that it happened to me? No, it was an accident - a brain injury and ensuing coma--an unfortunate circumstance. Nobody caused it, especially not God. I'm sure He loves me too much to hurt me like that.
Was it bad luck? Was it fate? Both of those are things that don't really exist until AFTER the bad thing happens, and in our minds, to explain it away. The real reason that it happened was that it happened. Life sucks sometimes.
Life is tough, but we have the power to choose. I had the power to keep working at my recovery. I finally finished therapy and went back to college, where I finished my degree with honors. After that, I because a personal trainer on my own, and after that, a massage therapist. Finally I started my own business doing both those things. I'm working at that now. I found that it is hard work, but I am happy, and doing it.
Did fate have anything to do with this. Of course not. It was an unfortunate circumstance, random, but my recovery wasn't. That was my choice, and I chose to take my life back. I've got a ways to go (still single), but it's easier now that I know that I can do everything I want badly enough.

I don't think I've ever believed in fate or destiny, although I hear it all the time and everybody around me, especially my family, believes it. I think everyone makes their own decisions, lives their own lives and ultimately decides their own future.
I know many people believe that everything that happens in their lives has been pre-planned and written out for them, but in my opinion if that was the case, if a higher power did indeed plan your life out for you, then everything that happened in your life would follow a linear path, it wouldn't have twists and turns in it, because it wouldn't be rational.
Also think about it another way, if god or any other higher power you believe, did plan out everybody's life out, why would some people live in poverty? Why would some people be born with diseases and defects? Why would this higher power plan a person's life out, only for that person to die as an infant and crushing the parents' hopes and dreams? Why would someone's life be planned out for them to die the most painful, gruesome, horrible death, such as the innocent people that would get beheaded at the hands of terrorists? Does this higher power WANT people to go through those? Does this higher power enjoy seeing these? Wouldn't that be irrational to you? Wouldn't that make god irrational?
For these reasons and many others that i can't mention I don't believe in fate. Many of you will disagree with me, and I'm sure I'll even get attacked, but go for it.

You don't have complete control over everything that happens. Otherwise, everything will be perfect for you. In reality, fate is nothing more than a combination of luck, coincidence, making good decisions, and seizing opportune moments.

My personal belief is that we have free will and choice in almost all areas of our lives. However, we are faced with certain challenges so that we can grow. Sometimes, people would say that it is due to karma that we are presented with these challenges and with lucky evets too. So, you could say that we never have complete control over everything that happens.

every thing happens for a reason, thoughts lead to actions and actions lead to concequences. we have free will and that is our God given right, but what we choose can altar the future and the path that we take and the people we might meet. fate is what is bound to happen no matter what, so I belive in it.
