You have not said in what discipline the Master's degreee is in. Next, credit hours differ from college to college... but the best answer is, you have to take and pass all the required courses, write your thesis and successfully defend it before the graduate committee.

The minimum will be 30 semester hours. I've seen some top at 60 semester hours. Professional master's (MBA, MHA, MPH, MPA) tend to be higher in hours than are academic master's (MA, MS).

A typical MBA will be about 36 semester hours not including any prerequisite or leveling courses that you need. Prerequistites can easily take you to 45 hours in an MBA; especially if your undergrad isn't in business.

A full-time load in a master's isn't the 12-15 hours you're used to in undergrad. Most master's students hold at 9-12 hours. That means that a typical 36 hour master's will take more than two semesters.

My masters degree required 30 credits (each course was a maximum of 3 credits).

Accredited AACSB MBA programs require between 42-48 credits.
