The items enlisted by the inquirer and a host of others, unerringly point out that "many things are WRONG with its political character."
We achieved independence at a very inconvenient time. Then, we rushed up to draft a costitution and became a republic within three years!
Sine then our politicians have been solely concerned with building vote banks(political engineering) rather than 'social engineering'.
The frequent tamasha of General Elections have drawn even communal parties to throw the glove!
To win elections by 'hook' or 'crook', they all indulge in illegal and immoral acts too.
Once they secure a majority, they form the govt. More often than not misrule and get a boot in the next election!
Now -a-days, the electorate wants to please all and hence the results lead to hung assembly or parliament.
Even that is circumvented by forming immoral coalitions! The honeymoon soon wears off!
Then, all talk about "morailty", which they themselves strangulated.

I can understand your anguish on all the wrongs that are happening in India. Now ask yourself this, can you remain a silent spectator or would you like to do something to change the sorry state of affairs. I am writing a book titled "A wake up call to the Indian Middle classes' that is aimed at addressing all these vital issues and also suggests the cure for these ills. But I need a massive support from people like you to succeed, but I am hopeful that I will definitely find thousands of right thinking people who can join me in the crusade to eradicate corruption from this country.

These events indicate that there is something wrong with the moral character of Indian society because politicians are part of us their "bad"deeds are seen because they are in power and play a game of exposing others.
The more serious question is why have so many people in the Indian society given up good values, ethics, honesty for corruption, bribery, indiscipline, nepotism.
Our ancestors would be crying and frantically trying to disown us.

I don't mean to be vague but it is common knowledge that corruption is ramped in the Indian political system.
As far as a remedy, the ppl of India need to protest and fight back against this instead of just being complacent.

There is no easy way to explain this, but I hope this helps. India is both - a punya bhoomi & a karma bhoomi. A punya bhoomi because of its varied heritage , cultural diversity & tolerance. You will not find so many religions, languages etc. co- existing in harmony anywhere else. India is also the land of great people like Vivekananda & Gandhiji. Karma bhoomi is a land where you discharge your duties. Hence, people doing their rightful duties in India, can call her their Karma bhoomi.
