I have a tendancy to change my mind about names when people point out something like the areola thing. and i really have searched long and wide for a name i like and i love aurelia. Aurora is nice to but my heart is not in it as much and i keep thinking of the lady in terms of endeerment.

i dont think arianna sounds like areola that much but i think it sounds like it more then aurelia does. I just think people think it is spelled similarly and cant pronounce it. I have no problem correcting peoples pro. of it but i dont want people to think the actual pronunciations ounds like areola

Aurelia (aw-REL-yah) is a beautiful name. If it sounds anything like areola, then it isn't being pronounced correctly...and that isn't your problem.

Aurelia is an underused and lovely name, it means "golden" and according to ssa.gov it hasn't ranked the top 1000 female names for the past 15 years! So if you're looking for something different, then Aurelia is definitely the way to go.

I have seen the variant Orelia (oh-REL-yah). I don't know how you'd feel about that one. I'd probably stick with the original.

Great name!

Go ahead and use it for your baby. Aurelia is a beautiful name, and it's probably the best name you will ever think of, since you have "searched long and wide" for it. The only possible word that sounds like Aurelia is Australia (lol) and that's no problem because everybody loves the 'au' sound, at least I do. And Areola and Aurelia sound SO different, because one starts with 'ar' and the other starts with 'au'. Just stick to Aurelia if you love it so much. It's beautiful.

I never noticed the similarity. Now I will think of it. They don't seem to similar to me, They sound completely differently.

A few other names have been spoiled for me as someone pointed out:

Ophelia sounds like, OOh, -Feel -yah.
Analise (Anal) - now I only like it with the e in the second position.

I love Aurora as well as Aurelia myself. I really still like both names.

Good luck.

It is 2 totally different words and pronounciations. I think that Aurelia is nice. Just make the child proud of her name whatever you decide. Good luck.

If you think it does, then a 3rd grader is going to think it does and the maturity level of some kids aren't that good. I would suggest something not so close to a body part.

I don't think they sound alike... but if you're questioning it... you may have regrets if you do use it. Maybe finding another name that suits your needs would be better.
