After reading about the 6 people shot and killed by a Wisconsin Deputy I thought that I'd ask this question:
How many people believe that current and potential police and/or law enforcement officers need to undergo these tests before being hired, or to remain on active duty:
A) drug and/or alcohol tests at least once a month
B) psychiatric evaluation before being hired
C) psychiatric evaluations 2 times a year
D) all of the above

Definately D.
Speaking as one who is connected to the UK force - I can certainly say that all of the above should apply. I could tell many stories that would certainly make it their last wage packet!

Who says they don't already go through those tests? Try contacting the LAPD, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, California Highway Patrol or any other law enforcement agency in the State of California and ask what tests are administered to cadets prior to even being accepted into the academy. Minimum is: 1. Written test. 2. Physical agility test. 3. Psychological evaluation 4. Full background investigation. 5. Polygraph 6. Oral interview.

All of the above. So many cops out there were either picked on a lot as a kid or they have small penises or both. Now is their chance to get back at the rest of us "legally". Yes. They get away with too much and they do need to be tested on a regular basis.

Not ALL cops are like this. But quite a few I have encountered are.

They definitely need psychiatric testing, because they are typically right-of-center authoritarians who already have a head start on the kind of fascism we want to avoid, or at least those of us with a sense of social responsibility do. Any indication they may be stepping over that line must be nipped in the bud.
