Saying you're going to can your manager if the team loses the next game is really showing confidence in your manager. It's not as if Joe Torre is a high school coach who has no idea how to manage a big-league club...the guy was a great player and he's a better manager. It's not like the guy hasn't won big games before. As much as I hate the Yankees, I don't think Joe Torre is being treated with respect. Steinbrenner needs his head examined.

when you are getting paid the highest salary paid for a manager you better get your shyte together and get the job done

thats what Steinbrenner expects

I have to agree with you tho, Torre does deserve better treatment and more respect but you certainy can't fault Steinbrenner for being frustrated with his team's performance...for the big bucks he pays he wants to win period

I know its not all Torre's fault since some of his players and the bullpen have been slumping but the blame goes entirely around starting with Cashman to the 25th guy on the roster

I hope Joe told him that if they win it all,He wouldn't work another day for an idiot like him if he gave him the whole Shabang for free.I was wondering if maybe the city could somehow fire George Stienbrenner. He really is lower than the scum that the fans get on there shoes, when they leave the Bathroom at Yankee Stadium in the 13th inning, from the floor, where all the Puke and piss lands.George needs a face lift, those Goat Balls he sports on his face need lifting. I don't even like the Yankees ,but have always had respect for Joe. He has gone through alot in his personal life ,and putting up with Goat ball Georgie and all the expensive Babies he has hired is very admirable.I bet Joe planned on retiring anyways and George just wanted to run his mouth to sound Bigger than he really is.

Not to worry..

George will pay the price for letting him go.

Doesn't matter how much moolah he throws on the table, if he thinks he can get on the phone and round up another Joe Torre, he's sadly mistaken.

Agreed.

One of the all time great managers of the last fifteen or so years, canned, because it's not his fault his starting pitching is terrible.

What's wrong with Steinbrenner is that he is alive. Once he's dead, he'll be fine.
