It's called a subconjunctival hemorrhage.
Many times it happens on it's own, sometimes caused by a cough or sneeze.
Sometimes it burns at moment of rupture, sometimes not.
It takes about two weeks to go away.
There is no treatment, except plain eye drops to soothe area.
I get one or two a year [ big ones - people ask me if I have had eye surgery! ] from unknown causes.

Never had one, it can hurt depending on how it happened, but it is usually painless, goes away in a few weeks, and it happens when *basically* you get hit in the eye/poked in the eye.

This has happened to me before but i didn't even notice until I looked in the mirror cuz it doesn't hurt. I'm not sure how you get one but mine went away in about a day.
