Big Sur! craggy coast, white-capped surf, winding road... Pescadero/ Santa Cruz is really cool too, beaches and all.

From Felton, Ca (giant redwoods) near Santa Cruz. Go to Santa Cruz next and follow the bay around south to Monterey and into Carmel. A little over 40 miles but well worth the drive.

Ouch 40 miles isn't much,find a spot going through the redwoods. It's beautiful
