In a 1998 essay in the New Yorker, author Toni Morrison described Clinton as "our first black president. Blacker than any actual person who could ever be elected in our children's lifetime." She went on to say:

Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.

This is just another reason that the Republicans absolutely hated Clinton. "He's getting votes from the minorities just for being poor white trash fercrissakes!" He drove them utterly apesh it. The Republican leadership of the House could barely conceal their contempt for the man in their photo ops and press conferences. As far as they were concerned, Clinton was nothing more than a smarmy hick, the former governor of a backwater southern state, and corrupt as fu ck. A guy that even had to lie about not inhaling.

They, just like the Bush Cartel are very very bad people. But most fake conservatives hate Clinton because he is a Democrat. If he was a Republican the cons would love him. Bush is doing nothing different that Clinton.

Just the people with the mental disease called conservatism. Bill Clinton's popularity has been at least twice that of Bush's for years and this is why the republicans/conservatives constantly bombard Clinton for Bush's mistakes. It's just jealousy. Hillary has recently gone over the 50% mark as the democrats choice for the presidency. The republicans are no where close to choosing a candidate. Rudy's attacks on Hillary are having just the opposite effect of his intentions to bring her down. In my opinion, the Clintons are ordinary people that have had extra-ordinary success in life and the conservatives hate them for it.

The Republicans cannot really bash the Clinton Administrations' performance record, because it was better than Bush's.

Thus, they resort to personal attacks; even attacking Hillary for Bill's desire for a little Oval Room extracurricular activity.

Have you noticed how the 'Pubs continually bash Hillary for a National Healthcare Plan she proposed over 14 years ago, that was flawed? They now label her a Socialist; despite the fact that she is a moderate Democrat. Further, Hillary even admitted the proposal was flawed, and she has been working on a better plan.

'Pub, be afraid; be very afraid that Hillary shall become president in 2008...

Personally I don't dislike the Clintons. I just prefer they stay out of national (or local for that matter) politics.

The fact is that they're ill-equipped to lead. Simultaneuosly moralistic and immoral. To prone to lead by fashion and public whim rather than standing firmly on principles.

Frankly I think that both Pres. and Senator Clinton are highly intelligent, superbly educated, and fabulously gifted in oratory (he more than she) and political stategy (she more than he). They seem like friendly, warm, and caring individuals. And by all accounts raised a similarly gifted daughter.

Unfortunately I believe that they're trying to sell the same merchandise that we returned years ago - government as a cure for everything, childishly naive foreign policy decisions, and too much philosophical waivering.

Of course if she wins election next year--there'll be no complaints by me. I trust our Democratic system and process most of all..And I'll pray fervently for a Republican controlled Congress...

aI don't hate them but I don't trust them either. They were involved in some shady deals and some shady people before and after Bill was elected president and we the American people found it was easier just to look the other way. The American people don't go to the polls to elect the most qualified person they go to elect the one who will look the best in the white house and that is where Bill and Hillary came in.

Bill Clinton knew too many secrets about where money was being hidden and how Regean and Daddy Bush had allowed Trillion of Public Wealth to be transferred to the Private Sector.
Clinton had THREATENED several time to open off shore bank accounts with treaties with other countries so Investors could see how many BILLION BUSINESSES HIDE FROM INVESTORS.
He was the First Pesident since Truman to present a Balanced Budget.
With the Budget Balanced the CORPORATE WELFARE is very low.

It is because they were unethical characters that kept getting away with things. Many of the scandals during the Clinton administration were trumped up. I'll be the first to admit it. But there were others, like Filegate or Cattlegate or Travelgate, etc. where they violate the law, or ruined people's lives, and they got away with it every time.

My personal beef, is the Bill, and now Hillary, govern with no core set of convictions. They do and say whatever is expedient at the time. Look at Hillary's record on Iraq. She's for it, against it, for it, pull the troops out, leave'em in, fund'em, don't fund'em, etc. Whatever is expedient at the moment.

On one of the more recent funding votes, she changed her position twice before voting, and then deliberately waited until after Barak voted to cast her vote the same way.

Definitely not the sort of LEADERSHIP I want in a President.

These two images pretty much sum it up for me. Funny how the same people who can explain away these two photos are the first to decry the fact that Muhhamed's phone call from Syria is getting tapped, or an Al-Quiada member caught on the battle field get's waterboarded.

"is it simply because her husband was a very successful and people resent them"

Successful, how? He bowed to the wishes of everyone foreign powers as long as the wind was blowing the right direction. They dismantled our military. Clinton was a 'President' who checked to see which way the wind was blowing BEFORE he made chose a path. He never made any hard decisions because he was too afraid to offend someone. That is not leadership.

"are they really bad people "

They are. People who have dirt on them either end up in prison or dead.
