HUH?

Is his body stiff, you mean? Then you need to take him to a vet. That is definitely not normal.

If he is wild caught, you need to release him/her. Get a captive bred instead. The instinct is to strong to find a place to hybernate now. And besides, if you aren't experienced, chances are he'll die in the spring. That is the most critical time for reptiles that hybernate, when they wake from hybernation!
