TJHB... The vehemence o some of the answers have even surprised me, but then most are freethinkers in this community.... Note how the 'rose tinted' brigade have avoided the question.

"Irina Plotnikov cannot marry the man she loves, Shmuel Cohen, even though she is Jewish according to halakha (Jewish religious law). A rabbinic court in Jerusalem ruled recently that even though Plotnikov is Jewish, she is not eligible to marry a Cohen since her father is not Jewish. According to Jewish tradition, people with the surname Cohen are descendants of the priests that served in the Temple in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago."

"Israel's Parliament has passed a law preventing Palestinians who marry Israelis from living in Israel. The move was denounced by human rights organisations as racist, undemocratic and discriminatory.
Under the new law, rushed through yesterday, Palestinians alone will be excluded from obtaining citizenship or residency. Anyone else who marries an Israeli will be entitled to Israeli citizenship. Now Israeli Arabs who marry Palestinians from the West Bank or Gaza Strip will either have to move to the occupied territories, or live apart from their husband or wife. Their children will be affected too: from the age of 12 they will be denied citizenship or residency and forced to move out of Israel. "... article continues

Pure claim, even based on scientific evidence that all races are not the same is considered racist.
On the other hand, discriminating people on the basis of their race (or, if you like it, their ethnic origin) makes Israel a "democracy"? I'm not quite convinced....

There are (were, since the man was killed in democratic Israel) some Jews who think otherwise, especially considering the Sephardic-Ashkenazi division among Jews:

I find it extremely poor logic, not to mention infantile to suggest that Israel isn't a racist state, simply because there are other countries out there that are 'more' racist. Two wrongs never add up to a right. Just because there are other Arab states that are racist doesn't mean you can take it out on the Arabs that live in Israel or the occupied territories. Lets be reasonable. and by the way BBDE, it isn't about who they let in, rather who they do not allow to return, and how they treat those already living there.

Basically, yes it is.

During the course of 2005, 225 racially-motivated incidents directed at Arab citizens were reported to the center or in the media. The center believes that less than 20 percent of attacks or other incidents are ever reported.

Seventy-fire percent of the reports on racist incidents came from institutional sources such as government ministries, government companies or publicly-elected officials.

Israel is most definitely a racist state. It is not because it is simply the 'Jewish Homeland' that makes it racist, it is their treatment on non-Jews that make them racist. And by non-Jews I mean not only Arabs/Muslims but Christians as well. They are one of THE most racist states in the world. Have you talked to any Christians living in Israel lately?

what else could an "ethnic Jewish state" in Palestine which was set up by rabid terrorist racists like those of the Irgun and the Stern Gang and the mass murdering Vladimir Jabotinsky (who decreed in 1923 that "iron wall" must exist between the Jews and the Arabs), and which has been ethnically cleansing the existing people since its foundation be?

Yes it is. As long as they stay the course in Israel the Palestinians have no chance. They actually work to undermine groups who favor peace with the Palestinians as opposed to the ethnic cleansing that has been taking place for some time. Unfortunately, ( though not surprisingly ) U.S. neocon zionists are also working behind the scenes offering advice on ways to ensure that the volence continues.

The current Likud Fundamentalist-Zionist government is horribly racist. There are Israelis who are more moderate and want Peace with Palestine and an end to the Apartheid State. There is no greater goal than this; since the conflict in the Middle East, and in the world, is rooted in Israel/Palestine. It is good to not fall for the propaganda that we see on the TV news about Israel. The current Israel regime is not helping to create peace, and it is peace that is of utmost importance in our world at this time. Humanity simply cannot thrive and grow and continue without it. This is an issue that is important to each and every human being alive We must find a way to resolve the conflict, but this cannot happen so long as people believe that the current Israeli government is doing their part of it. They are NOT.

There is an advocacy organization called One Million Voices that is trying to create Peace between Palestine/Israel. It is their goal to raise one million signatures by Oct 18. Please sign! There are already more than 500,000 signatures! :-)

Most definitely, it is.
There's not enough word to emphasize, how racist the state of Israel is.

Slaughtering, murdering and hatting Palestinians or Arabs in whole, is like part of their religion or their duty of some kind!

IT'S SICKENING!
