Thats damn true.....when liverpool can be consistant enough to win the premiership and retain it, only then can they be considered near as good as their predecessors, Champions league or No champions league

Wasn't it a feature of the great Liverpool sides of the late 70's early 80's that they would be 16th around Christmas and embark on a run and hit the top around Easter? Having said that there was no top 4 in them days. Anyone could win the league.

They have a good team but Rafa has to let one version of his team play together for a little while with as little changes as possible so that they could get used to each other instead of having a different set of players every single week. It's not like the other teams have less games to play than Liverpool but they keep the same squad and understand each other.
One thing that really annoyed me is that he spent that much money on Torres to keep him on the bench in League games but start him in the Carling Cup? That's just crazy.

i think they will finish top to be honest nevermind the early season results still unbeaten in the league you never know that arsenal might not slip up some points but look at tottenham bottom three we all know they won't stay there for long after today's performance and liverpool played really well against them they were unfortunate that their defence has been crap over the last week but they should get back on form with their next match 2 weeks from now i'm sure benitez will rest torres next game though because so far he's been in 4 or 5 games in a row and reina and arbeloa are the only players so far to be in the team every week and if benitez keeps this up until january he'll stay in the top 4 and january will come and he'll get in the transfer list and buy some defenders to strenghten his defence if they carry on to do this crap but i'm sure benitez as a perfectionist will perfect his back four and we'll see a difference in the next liverpool match you don't have to be consistant to win the league all you need to do is win games and stay unbeaten and hope for arsenal, man united and chelsea drop points to finish top.

Ironically Liverpool is having its best team and buys this season and theoretically should stand a good chance to win EPL....but then becasue of 'rotation'? its gone down to the gutters. But then seson's still early and they still have a chance if they are humble enough to CHANGE!

I must admit that I'm also a bit disappointed with their performance this season. They drew every easy game and for last years runners up their performance in the champions league is terrible. I hope they get it together and start winning.

well, once everyone starts to think that they might be strong and they could win the title this year, the manager starts to change the formation of the team, resting that, giving that a break and so on.. by that, the team's performance starts to slump and the whole understanding between the players just vanishes away.
this is the best thing to be seen every year =P

I would agree with that, I will never forget the night they last won the Champions league. They even out-did United in 1999.
