Sometimes I shop, sometimes I clean, sometimes I sleep. Sometimes I try to write out the problem and my solutions in a journal to see if there is anything I could do differently so in the end, I wasn't feeling so sad. Sometimes I watch movies all day. Sometimes, I just like to sit out in the sun and think about all the other problems people deal with and the problems that make me feel sad don't seem all that big anymore.

I go for a long walk somewhere nice, like the beach or my favourite park, it's good to think, clear your head and get some execise all at the same time. I play with my dog or snuggle up with my cat and watch girly movies... and if I'm really really sad I visit my mum, sister or best friend and tell them all about it, nice cuppa and a chat always seems to help.

I learned in therapy that if I change ONE THING in my life when I am sad, it starts a chain that effects everything else in my life.
For instance, music is wonderful to perk me up. Sometimes I will start singing with it.
When I don't even want to face the day and can't get out of bed, just forcing myself to take a shower makes me feel better.
Reading the Bible brings me contentment and security when I am fearful.
My son is serving in Iraq right now and had a very close call with an IED (roadside bomb). We chatted about it on IM, and he said he was going to play his guitar and read his Bible.
Remember, just changing one thing in your life will start to change everything.
Blessings

Sometimes you just have to ride it out. Be sad. Listen to sad songs, watch sad movies, cry. Just get it out of your system. Then....smell the flowers live again.
