do you mean Iran? We are already in Iraq and trying to get out. Seems to me this is a question from overseas that is supposed to set us off to barking like dogs. Gasoline taxes are used to support highway and bridge construction and nothing else. Have nothing to do with anything else, the rest is supply and demand and oil company gouging. Nope, I don't think you are going to do a debate at all, you are just phishing for idiots to do the whole anti Bush or US thing. Nice work Achmed.

No, They Should Remove Tax From Gasoline Completely, Set A Global OPEC Fixed Barrel Price Of $35 For The Next 50 Years, And Fix BIGOIL Companies Fleecing Profits Off The Publics Labors. Let Zio-Stock Holders Find A New Cash Cow. This Ones Milked.
FLEECED TO DEATH BY BIGOIL? YOUBETCHA.
OUR FORE-FATHERS WOULD HAVE THEIR HEADS IN A BASKET FOR ALL TO WITNESS..

Hmmmm.
IF you are a Democrat: YES!!!!!! Increase Taxes at least $4.00 a gallon.
That was the plan from the beginning!!!!!!!
But..... If you are a Real American, Cut Taxes on gasoline, and DRILL IN ANWR, OFF SHORE, AND ON OIL RICH GOVERNMENT LAND.
Democrats are just trying to Sabotage America, because They Hate The USA.
(Only Idiots believe that Oil Companies influence the price of oil. Check out Basic Economics 101.)

Cut the gas tax in half, people will use more gas and it will end up raising more money in taxes which could be used to fund the war.
Cut the income taxes even more, people will have more money to spend and it will generate even more tax money than is being generated now.
It's been proven to work.
Raises taxes on gas, think about it, if you have to pay 5.00 a gallon for gas, you'll use your car less, cut back your driving habits and then the government will ultimately make less money.

The economic impact of increasing the gasoline tax by $2 would prevent a lot of poor, even rich (middle class) people from being able to work. During my life time, I have known a lot of people who drove 100 miles to work...and another 100 miles home, each day, blizzards, floors, you name it. They would not be able to afford to work.
As to the wealthy or most of the rich, it might keep them from wasting quite so much gasoline in their SUVs, huge pickups, snowmobiles, golf carts, ATVs, etc.

You mean with IRAN, don't you?
The gasoline tax has already been raised many times. But a lot of people see $6-$9 per gallon for gas--if we go to war with Iran. (Over their oil of course.)

Easy enough to explain the negative aspects of such an increase.
My question would be, what positive effect would be expected of such an action, especially enough so to offset all the negatives?
