Don't worry....it's not a homework question. It's a practice question for a test. But, here's the equation: 2/3x= -8.
How do I get the answer for this. I got -16/3, but I'm sure that's not correct haha.

thnx=]

I'm not sure which problem you asking. Is it 2 divided by 3x equals -8; or is it 2/3 times X = -8. Anyway, I'll work them both.

2 divided by 3x equals -8
2/3x = -8

Cross multiply so lets give -8 a denominator of 1

2/3x = -8/1
-24x = 2
Now divide each side by -24 so you are left with x

-24x/-24 = 2/-24
x = 2/-24 = - 1/12 answer is negative 1/12

Or is it 2/3 times X equals -8
2/3x = -8
A positive times a negative is equal to a negative, so we know that X is negative.

Lets divive 2/3 by each side so we are left with x and we get

x = -8 divided by 2/3
To get x we must multiply and change the 2/3 to 3/2

x = -8/1 * 3/2
x= -24/2 = -12 answer is -12

Here, times:

(3/2) 2/3x= -8 (3/2)

x= -8(3/2)

x= -4(3)

x=12
