Just recently, my car's transmission seems to be out of whack. The clutch won't make the car idle and therefore I can't shift gears. Now, if the car is off I can put the clutch and shift.

I was talking to my dad and he said it could be something with a synchronizer or pressure plate. I don't know jack about cars so this is all new to me.

Just looking for help to see if anyone can help pinpoint and maybe how much it costs to fix?

I have a '93 Ford Escort LX-E, but the guy I had bought it from put a Mazda engine in it, I don't know what one though (sorry)... that's about all the info to help describe I can give! Thanks in advance.

??"Clutch Won't Make the Car idle??"

You push in the clutch, Let up on the throttle (That lets the engine drop back to idle), shift, press down on the throtle and release the clutch. Is this what you do?

Engine type has nothing to do with it.

Low clutch fluid Level (Res. under the car). Clutch warn or loose. Clutch needs to be replaced.

Either you clutch cable is broken or there is no fluid in the clutch hydraulic system. Maybe the master has failed and will not pump up the system and or the slave has failed.
Should not be hard to fix either of these because they are external the bell housing I think.

Not sure, but I believe this car has a hydraulic slave cylinder for the clutch, if so, that's where to start. If not, then check throw out bearing and or pressure plate and clutch disc.

Your problem is not IN the tranny. Either the cable or hydraulic operating system is broke. Go to auto parts store and get a CHILTONS manual for your car, about $20, it will sve you a lot of time and money.
