How about the government funding of stem cell research controversy? Or the government funding of abortion?

1. Set up a "401K" like health savings account. You would own the account and the money would be yours. It could be used for such incidental expenses like doctor visits, or to cover the deductible on your health insurance.
2. Have a "Catastrophic" health insurance plan. It would cover *all* expenses over $5,000 or $10,000.
3. Get rid of *all* government mandates on insurance coverage. If I don't want or need prenatal or birth or what ever coverage I shouldn't have to pay for it.
4. Tort reform... limit liability "pain and suffering" payments. Have a "loser pays" to reduce frivolous lawsuits.
5. Have a "safety net" for the *truly* poor... not those in the upper middle class that don't know how to handle their money.
6. For those with "preexisting" conditions or are other wise uninsureable there should be some kind of insurance risk pool that they could buy into to get insurance.
7. Government coverage of poor children (like SCHIP) should only be for *poor* children... not young adults up to 25 years old.

Do away with the Federal Income Tax and tax everyone 10% ... no loop holes for anyone. That means big business too. Doesn't matter how much you earn ... 10% of your taxes goes to the government to run the country and pay for health care for those who can't afford it.

There's something wrong with the working people paying 36% of their earnings in taxes when big business and the super wealthy get tax breaks and wind up paying a third of what middle America pays.

10% of $60,000.00 is $6,000.00 ... that's fair. 10% of $1,000,000.00 is $100,000.00 ... that's fair. Give me a million dollars and I'd be happy to pay $100,000.00 in taxes. 10% of $1,000,000,000.00 is $1,000,000.00 ... that's fair too isn't it?

How long do you think it would take at this rate of taxation before we could solve our monetary problems? Don't worry, the wealthy will never go along with the idea of paying their fair share just like everyone else does. Just a radical thought.

Health care is a SORE subject in most peoples eyes.

My take is that there are too many hands in the drug companies pockets, too many unjust malpractice law suits, and the price to attend medical schools are insane.

If anything, we need to do something about these problems to stabilize the COST of health care and make it affordable for everyone.

A socialist, at least one who isn't caving in to the liberals, would want complete nationalization of the health care industry, with no compensation to the companies it's taken from.

Liberals basically want the govt to take over managing it so they can funnel the money into the insurance companies' coffers. Conservatives seem to think that the companies can steal the money on their own. NEITHER seems to think that no one has the right to profit off of working people's illness.

I would not know about the fringe element, but if you want radical, do away with ALL health care programs, all insurance programs, and get what you can pay for. That's what the working poor do.

Well, Cuba's radical approach was to educate and train as many doctors as they possibly could, which has resulted in them having app. 1 doctor for every hundred people.
It could never happen here, because the AMA lobby doesn;t want to upset the supply and demand ratio that makes doctors earn so much money.
