Why continue to start him? He's had 1 good game all year and was questionable last year! Mark Sanchez (his back-up) is faster, has a stronger arm, and was a beast out of Mission Viejo High in Orange County (home of Leinart and Palmer).

I love USC and am a die hard fan. But Booty was overrated last year, getting credit, that should have gone to Dwight Jarrett, the best wide receiver in college football.

Booty has a strong arm, but lack of accuracy, and not being able to pick out secondary receivers is devastating, unless you have a "Dwight Jarrett" to receive those errant passes. Add to that Booty's fear of taking a hit and panicking whenever any pressure is put on him, and USC's fate was sealed when Booty returned to USC (not entering the NFL draft). It did not take long for reality to show it's ugly head.

I agree... that Mark Sanchez is the best quarterback on USC's roster both last year and this. Booty was anointed the quarterback position after Matt Leinart's departure and I sometimes wonder if that was not part of the "ISSUES" between Pete Carrol and offensive cordinator Norm Chow. leading Chow (best offensive coordinator in college football) to leave USC for the NFL.

note....
Norm Chow is now the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans who's starting quarterback is "Vince Young"... What's that tell Ya.

So many USC fans are talking about benching him and stuff when they were talking about him being a Heisman hopeful a while back. I never thought he was anything that great. When USC had Leinart and Bush, they might have deserved half the hype theyre getting now (though Vince Young shut that down too in the Rose Bowl game), but USC is seriously an overrated team. Don't put the blame entirely on Booty (even though he does suck...what'd he throw 4 interceptions or something last night?), because the defense should've contained Stanford even if the offense was slacking.

I'm saying that because in LSU's first half vs Tulane, our offense was NOT good, but our defense was doing their job perfectly, and held Tulane to just 9 points.

Booty has always been overrated and always this teams weakness. The problem with changing is that you risk creating a bigger weakness.

While Booty isn't great, most games he is good enough for USC to roll -- it is just the 3 games a year he stinks that USC is in trouble.

When you bring in Sanchez, despite his pedigree, you lose all that experience. Anytime you go with a fresh QB in college football you can be sure he WILL lose you at least one game. Just the nature of the maturation process. The list of 1st season QBs that run the table is short indeed.

That is probably the best reason USC will roll again with Booty, and probably will lose only once more if at all.

With Sanchez, you risk losing 2 or 3 more, even if his talent is greater.

I think Booty is a mediocre qb, but he's not the problem, the problem is that they lost their 1-2 wide receivers last year. A lot of teams suffer the year after they lose a big time receiver. LSU's offense would be much better if they still had Bowe, Michigan had a terrible season after Edwards left and once tosu actually plays a good team they'll fall apart from losing ginn/gonzalez.
Putting a new qb in with new receivers would be stupid. They just need to get their routes down better. A mediocre qb at SC with all of the rest of their talent should be plenty.

I agree. Bench Booty. And why is he John David Booty not just John Booty. Why can't he be called by his first and last name like everyone else in all of sports. He is a baby.
And - it almost appeared that he threw two of the interceptions last night on purpose against Stanford. This wouldn't be the first time that a QB was paid off by the odds makes in Vegas.

It's funny to see how he dropped from the leading Heisman trophy candidate to a joke, which is exactly what he is! Booty is no Carson Palmer or Matt Leinart, and it's about time the media realizes that.

The way Booty was step dancing back there we might say he played the night before and couldn't repeat the performance. He will remain cause he is the starter. Weather he will win is what to watch for. The Red Wings have an idiot like that on their team. I say play or pose.

Booty could cost them the Cal game, but it takes an entire team to lose to Stanford. And coaches. Hell, probably the fans, too.

They don't lose to Stanford if he doesn't throw 4 picks.
