Yes.
If you need more power to take off, turn your a/c off, then go, then turn it back on.

That depends. If you own a new Toyota Prius, the A/C is run by a compressor that is powered by the hybrid system and uses very little power. If your car is a conventional running engine it does use up horsepower. However you'll never notice it at full throttle because when you push the accelerator pedal down all the way the throttle position sensor tells the computer full power is needed. The computer then commands the A/C compressor clutch to disengage and no power is lost. Therefore horsepower is only lost during partial throttle. Even then though your computer opens up the idle air control motor to compensate or make up for the power loss. The only time you may notice is during engine braking while going down hill in low gear or during idle. During those times you'll notice the RPM fluctuating only slightly if you pay real close attention.

No some of the power is diverted to the air con , you will have no less horsepower.
Some vehicles may become slower due to the age of engine or the amount of power transmitted to the air con.

Technicaly, no.
It's just the fact that the A/C pump is using some of the power from your engine to pump freon.
