both are a moral and a legal issue. the dealer is responsible for the decaying life and death of the people he sells drugs to. even using the drugs can cause the person to do bodily injury or death to another person.

If its a moral issue it IS a personal matter.

Andit depends on which drugs you are talking about. Selling drugs like cocaine that get people addicted is a serious offense. Writing prescriptions for addictive sleeping aidds is legal.

My point--which drugs are illegal and which aren't is mostly a matter of social and political choices, not objective assesments of their effects.

If we did evaluate and create public policy on this issue based on empirical facts, drugs like cocaine and heorin woud still be illegal--but with a focus on treating, rather than prosecuting addicts. Marijuana would be legal, regulated much as alcohol is. And about 70-80% of the current "legal" precriptions currently written would be banned.

I'm a libertarian at heart, but drugs cause a lot of grief. Whether legal or not, how a person chooses to conduct his/her self is always a moral issue--at least, for those who still have them.

Freedom of action requires a sense of personal responsibility to oneself and others.

If adults wish to deal drugs to one another, and/or
use them, then it is up to them and only them.

Now, if a citizen uses drugs and INJURES
another, then this citizen gets to have a holed
bored through his ear and instantly becomes an indentured servant to the victim or the family of
his victim. Common Law, been around since God
Walked with Adam in the garden.

Moral??
If you are a God Fearing man or woman, then
distorting Gods created reality is Sin. You won't do it.
If you are a heathen then it doesn't matter, does it?

It is an issue for everybody.

ALL drug users are a drain on society.

They steal from us, they commit violent crimes against us, and they end up in the hospital with no insurance.

This is an issue which affects all of us.

It's a police matter and a legal issue. Quite simple.
