1. Study how a computer works. All the parts and how they interact.
2. Especially study how a HDD works. This is where the critical data is stored. You should understand how data is stored there as well, what kind of algorithms are used and how the data is constructed.
3. You should study how network traffic interacts with any computer.
4. You should study security/virus/spyware and how this affects a computer.
5. You should study how an operating system works. How is manages the peripherals and data.
6. Forensics, as mentioned.

That should do you. You could also take some basic law and public speaking since any forensics is usually in order to be an expert witness at some point.

At some point if you want some hands on experience then check out the concept of running a computer "honeypot" which is alot of fun and very instructive. :)

I'd concentrate on courses that deal with security - encryption, network protection, and so on. There's a HUGE market out there for computer security.

Good luck!

It would be more help full to you to get a good grip of the fundamental of how computers hardware and software are put together and how they operate.
BASIC understanding of any subject is always away to go.
