In the book, the main character's age ranges from 6-15. Would the word "adolescent" be Ok to described him with or is the word used only for teenagers?

What book would this be? any one with a nassem of commen sense would know a boy of six is a million miles from adolescent !!!!!!!
I think TEEN is the operative word hon ...maybe you just need to re read whatever it was....

Only for the teenager. the wprd fpr a 6 - 12 year old is Prepubescent.

Pre = latin before Pubescent = maturing into adult.

Therefore prepubescent is before the teenage./maturing years.

Your character is first of all a child then a teen. A prepubescent, then an adolescent.

adolecent usually is for 12+ teen years (for me at least)
so I would refer to him as 'the boy' or by his name...
