A deke is a stick-fake. You move your stick (and sometimes the puck) one way and quickly change the direction once you have the goalie out of position.

A deke on the goalie is when an offensive player is skating in alone on the goalie and they make a motion designed to cause the goalie to react, as if the player is going to take a shot. Then the offensive player makes a second move, usually to the opposite side of the goalie and takes the shot. Another term foe a deke would be a fake.
